We understand that peoples circumstances change or things happen outside of their control. Even though a big majority of our animals have been rescued from terrible living conditions, abuse and neglect, we do have a lot of animals that come in because their owners circumstances have changed and they are no longer able to give them the care that they need. In these circumstances there is zero judgement from us here at mini beasts and we know and understand how difficult times can be. We appreciate the strength that it takes to surrender a family pet and admire that the animals best interest is at heart no matter how hard it may be. Whether a pet owner has passed away, living conditions have changed or a persons health and wellbeing has got in the way of meeting their pets needs, we know its a really difficult decision to make and will be there to offer our support wherever we can. We feel very honored when people choose us to surrender their pets to and knowing that people have the faith in us to take the best care of their animals makes us feel very privileged.
We aim to make sure that surrendering an animal to us is as simple and as stress free as possible. Once the decision has been made to surrender the animal, the next steps that will be taken going forward are:
- Get in touch with us and an experienced member of staff will be in touch promptly.
- We will ask for a little bit of background information on the reasons for surrendering.
- We will ask for information about the animal and any needs they may have so we are able to give them the best possible care.
- We will then send you a 'Surrender Declaration Form' for you to fill out and give back to us
- Once those steps have been done we will then arrange a suitable collection/drop off handover of the animal
We appreciate that surrendering an animal can be incredibly difficult and you may want to have regular updates. Please note, due to our high intake of animals needing our care, we can only give one update on the surrendered animal to you so you know that the animal is being well looked after and is settled. Please be reassured, all of our animals in our care only go to 5* homes and our home checks, information collected and meetings are incredibly thorough. We will not rehome an animal to a home that is not suitable for them and their needs.
